As we begin World Autism Month on the first of April, I am going to be doing a 30 Days of Autism event. I will be posting a blog a day about a famous/historical person either known to be autistic or believed to be autistic. I will do a quick blurb on their accomplishments and if I can, I will also include a photo with a link to their bio. I hope you all enjoy it and if there is someone who is missing from this list and you wish them to be, I will try to include them all in an honorable mention at the end of the month.
So, some of my loyal readers from the old blog are probably wondering why the change from the old blog to the new. To put it simply, I got burned out on the old blog. I had several different segments on Through My Eyes Blog that it was hard to write posts, and figure out which segment they needed to go in. I would start on something for Aspie Thoughts and then pause and say that it maybe needs to go into Aspie Politics, but it could also be Advocacy, and before I knew it, I am deleting the post that I am working on and starting it over. I would do that so many times that it all became frustrating. I decided recently I needed to simplify what I had, and make it easier on myself the writer and you the reader, so this is where we are. I brought the most popular segment out of the old format, made it the focus, and am restyling it. The new blog will be 100% Me, 0% Compromise, No Filter. I won't allow others to dictate to me what I post, I won't compromise my integrity by posting content that doesn't fit who I am, and I won't filter my comments to make them sound like something I am not. The whole point behind the original blog that I started in 2009 was to show the world how the world is a very strange place for those of us on the spectrum, and how we see it differently from our point of view than the neurotypical person might.
Now on to the fun stuff. This new blog will be a bit different. Now instead of having many segments with different themes, there will only be ONE segment, with ONE purpose: to put my thoughts, as I see them, on any subject that I feel compelled to write about. I will still accept requests for my opinions on certain topics, but for the most part, I will be writing about things that I feel need my viewpoint on. I am going to try to have at least one post a week, but I cannot promise that the posts will be up every week.
So, welcome, and I look forward to seeing where I can go with this. If you want to help suggest topics for a blog post, email them to me at AspieThoughtsDC@outlook.com or tweet them to me at @AspieThoughtsDC. Thank you to all who supported the old blog, and welcome to all who come to the new.
